Stephen Waarts, violin [2009 Debut Artist]
Mendelssohn String Symphony No. 7 in D Major
Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in D minor
Mendelssohn Octet for Strings
Happy Birthday, dear Felix. We celebrate classical music's second most famous child prodigy (after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, of course!) with three wonderful, early works: our 2008 Debut Artist, amazingly accomplished 12-year old violinist Stephen Waarts performs the early Violin Concerto in D minor (written at the age of 13); the SFCO continues it's survey of Mendelssohn's early string symphonies with the delightful #10 in B minor (age 14); plus the great Octet for Strings (age 16)--one to a part, as originally written.
