Family Concerts

More and more Bay Area families are discovering our great introductions to classical music - SFCO Family Concerts! To meet growing demand, we've expanded this series from two to three concerts, and we've added an Oakland venue! These entertaining and imaginative concerts are not to be missed. Featured performance partners this season include the outstanding Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir and star performers from the Bay Area's own Circus Bella!
Family Concert I: Meet the Composers
Meet Mr. Vivaldi, Mr. Beethoven, and Ms. Frank as the SFCO takes you back in music history to meet two great composers and a real live one, our Composer in Residence Gabriela Frank. This program will also feature two young cellists, Nathan Chan and Chloe Lula, and side-by-side musicians from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Prep Chamber Orchestra, Berkeley’s Crowden School, and Hillsdale High School in San Mateo.

Family Concert II: Music and Song with the Piedmont East Bay Children's Choir
Our second concert collaboration with one of the Bay Area’s finest young vocal ensembles. Our theme will be songs about water, and program will also include side-by-side musicians from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Prep Chamber Orchestra, Berkeley’s Crowden School, and Hillsdale High School in San Mateo.

Family Concert III: So You Wanna Be a Conductor with members of Circus Bella
Everything you need to know to get a highly trained group of professional musicians following your every move! This program will include audience participation and feature performers from the Bay Area's own Circus Bella. Side-by-side musicians from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Prep Chamber Orchestra, Oakland’s High School of the Arts, and Hillsdale High School in San Mateo will also be performing.

Very First Concerts

Developed in partnership with the Crowden Music Center in Berkeley, these delightful 20-minute concerts for ages 0-6 teach musical concepts, offer hands-on activities and encourage lots of movement and dancing!

Starting our second season of concerts for our youngest listeners, this program highlights the great Hungarian composer, Bela Bartok, and his Roumanian Folk Dances!
